Lift Up Your Voice & Sing!
What can I say I LOVE music! About a year ago I was called to be our ward choir director. I was excited about the opportunity to learn and grow and even direct - that is if I could direct a group of my imaginary friends in the confines of my bedroom with the Mormon Tabarnacle Choir singing in the background. Well, I still have no formal training, only the hands on figuring things out stuff on my own, but my comfort level has grown and even a few directing skills are beginning to emerge (even if I did make them up, they seem to be working). However, the one thing that hasn't changed is the overwhelming feeling I get when the choir sings all together either in unison or in parts. It's amazing!!! I honestly cannot even put words to it, but it completely envelopes my whole body, I can't help but just feel like I'm beaming just from hearing their sound. I am so grateful for the calling, for the growth, for opportunity to work with such talented people, many of whom are new to the choir scene as well, and grateful for the unseen angels who I know often accompany us!

I am telling you, there is nothing like children singing...I either cry, or hold it back! I sort of joined choir, but I can't seem to make it consistant..plus I am not good at reading music, so I just need to learn the song and then sing it, by hearing it..or I just need to learn to read music! anyways, I am with you when it comes to music!
I am with you on that. I dont know if you have noticed but I often have tears in my eyes when we sing. Music makes me feel the spirit more than anything else. I am so horribly sad that I got released from my primary chorister calling. I cried!
I have the same experience as Tara. It was so good for me (even though I wasn't feeling well) the last time we sang, to be able to sit in the congregration and listen to the choir. I think I needed that more than actually singing. I know I feel the spirit when I am singing, but I often wonder if those listening have those same feelings, and after just listening, there's no doubt in my mind!! You and Tara have wonderful talents. Thanks for sharing them. It's so funny that you have no formal instruction because I never would have known that if you hadn't mentioned it.
